“Is not this the carpenter, the son
of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not
his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him” (Mark 6:3).
I
love the way the people put their observation here; “Is not this the carpenter?” This tells us that Jesus Christ while
He was on earth (before stepping into His ministerial obligation in full) actually
participated in his earthly father’s carpentry work. This is interesting!
Jesus
would wake up, do domestic work, and then proceed to “Joseph’s Carpentry
Workshop Limited”. He would fix people’s chairs, tables, beddings. Their
carpentry workshop would get a job call and Joseph would delegate Jesus to do
the job. And Emmanuel (His name) would take up his instruments, carry some
woods along, and head to the customer’s house to fix the leaking roof. On His
way, the other children would look at Him as a carpenter, but little did they
realise that though they were classmates,
but they were not grace-mates; they were never in the same class!
Imagine
this; those who knew His birth and events surrounding His birth would gather
and laugh amongst themselves, saying that, “(And
Nathanael said unto him), Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip
saith unto him, Come and see” (John 1:46).
You
see, I do not blame Nathanael, it was perhaps what he heard others discussing
when Jesus was still an active carpenter. It was an information that travelled
through town. People thought Jesus was destined to be a carpenter forever...but
they were very wrong!!!
Friend,
it is possible you are well aware of God’s purpose for your life but it seems
the manifestation has not started and then people are despising or looking down
on you for your current status.
It
is error to judge people because of what they appear to be now. It is must
blessed to see people not as they are, but as they can be. Look beyond the
present and see people the way God sees them – a blessed generation; “And all nations shall call you blessed:
for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts” (Malachi 3:12).
And
when the fullness of time came, purpose overtook
circumstances, and Jesus became the greatest man to walk through the face
of the earth. But you remember, He was once a carpenter, but He was only
waiting for the appointed time to fulfil His earthly and divine purpose. “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested,
that he might destroy the works of the devil” (1 John 3:8).
Many
where born in “unhonourable” circumstances. Many grew up in unfavourable situations.
And men looked at them only to conclude that “Can there any good thing come out
of Nazareth (your life and family)?” Some think that no one shall be a graduate
in your family. Some think no one will ever own a car in your family, etc.
There
are people who could not finance their education, and some have had to do odd (not
negative) and manual jobs just to survive (I have been there before). This has
made men to think that there is nothing more to the lives of these people. But,
it is written, “Who is he that speak and
it come to pass when God has not ordained it?” (Lamentation 3:37).
When
it was time for Jesus, no devil could stop Him. When God says it is your time,
no demon or witch is born of the devil to stop you. But, you must realize that
the fulfilment of destiny begins in God...you must stop playing religion, and
accept Jesus into your life. And you must live every moment for God in holiness
and referential fear, looking forward to eternal life. And as you do this, you
find yourself fulfilling divine destiny.
YOUR DESTINY DOES NOT START WITH
YOU...IT STARTS IN GOD. THIS IS WHY IT IS CALLED DIVINE DESTINY (Bukola
