TEXT: Genesis 7:1
"And the LORD said unto Noah,
Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before
me in this generation".
God gave Noah a mandate - the
salvation of himself and his house. His righteousness rubbed on his family: his
wife and sons. Even his sons’ wives benefitted from the mandate of Noah.
God has not saved you so that you
should go to Heaven alone. You have a mandate to reach out to your own
Jerusalem which is your family. It was with this same understanding that Joshua
declared: "As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD" (Joshua
24:15). It was on this mandate that Rahab, the converted prostitute
returned to reach out with salvation to her household. Some would have laughed
at her, but she rescued some from destruction. It was on this wise also that
Isaiah confessed: "I and the children whom the LORD hath given me are for signs and
for wonders..." (Isaiah
8:18).
Noah and Lot had something similar;
they both had a mandate over their houses. But while Noah's salvation had
impact on his wife, Lot's case was the opposite. While Noah made saving impact
on his sons' wives, Lot's case was not so; his sons in law didn't make the ark.
Today, the question is: WHAT ARE YOU
DOING ABOUT THE SALVATION OF YOUR HOUSE? There are things you can do:
1) Begin to pray for them (if you have not
started to)
2) Begin to preach to them. Share
tracts; seek opportunity to reach out either one-on-one or by organising Bible
Study.
3) Begin to let your light shine
amidst them. Stand for the truth even if you are the only one standing or the
last man standing. Let your stand for truth and holiness be known not just in
your church but in your home. Don't just be a church Christian; be a believer
at home, at work, on the street, and everywhere you find yourself. To be a
Christian at church alone is to be planted in church. While to be a believer in
word and deed in all places is to be planted in God.
We have gone past enviromental
Christianity...that is hypocrisy with no place in eternity. The Bible says 'Let
your light so shine BEFORE MEN' not before church members and pastor alone.
Don't put your light under the bushel; let you family also see it. You can keep
your Bible open at home for them to see through the kind of life you live at
home. Let them see your light and many of them shall find light in your light.
May you walk in that grace for the glorious life in God. Peace.
