Being associated with God is our highest
privilege in life...it is an association that has eternal connection.
Some people are associated with money, the Bill Gates and co; not bad.
Some are associated with knowledge, take the Soyinkas and co...and many
are associated with many other things which in themselves are not bad.
But, every such association does not guarantee eternal life, and then I
ask
, "what shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul?"
When a man is associated with God alongside what God has given him be it money, knowledge, ability, fame, etc, that man's life is like a "double-edged sword" with the capacity to connect to Heaven after life here is over. The truth is that, money can not pay your transportation fare to Heaven; fame can not make the angels to honour you and open the gates of Heaven to you; your knowledge can not turn the heavenly doors to remote-controlled facilities that will open at your presence; all your connections and fans can not intimidate a single angel to open Heaven's gate to you...all these things are earthly, only an association with God is a guaranteed connector to life after here. This is why many rich, famous, influential and connected men, celebrities, scholars, etc may miss Heaven...they may have their names in the Guinness book of world records, but their names are missing in the book of Life because there is no connection between them and God.
They saw Peter and co and noticed they had an abnormal pattern of life. He (Peter) and some others were but fishery professionals, yet their words and presence counted, and they stood out. At last they found the secret about their lives; "they had been with Jesus" (Acts 4:13). This is the best association that guarantees life
