HAVE IT)
Do
not eat up your future simply because you are hungry today. This was the
mistake that Esau made and it left him with eternal consequences. Not all the
seeds that come to you are meant for food; know the seeds to eat and the ones
to leave (and sow). You collapse your future and make it very narrow when you
eat the seed that you should sow into your destiny. They say you cannot eat
your cake and have it, and I am saying YOU CANNOT EAT YOUR FUTURE AND HAVE IT.
Esau
ate his future because he could not delay gratification. Many people love to
eat, drink, and fornicate, but they do not realize that they are eating up and
sapping out their future on the altars of sin. They unknowingly use their own
hands to drain the glory ahead and deflate their destinies, and when they get
into the future and find out it is empty they will only wish they can turn back
the hands of time. The truth is that, time is more an enemy than friend; do not
play with time. The reason the devil is becoming increasingly aggressive and
more than ever zealous is because he understands that time is neither his
friend nor on his side. But alas, believers toy with time.
Many
are living for the present...to them it is all that matters; they do not have
their eyes on tomorrow and eternity. They are deceived by the pleasures of the
now and erroneously confuse it for the future. Interestingly, some of these
pleasures may not appear sinful while yet others are sinful, but they have the
same destination-an empty destiny here and eternity.
There
are people who rather than buy books to develop themselves would rather use the
money to buy gold wrist watches. They go about thinking they are champions, but
yea, they are champions of today but potential losers of tomorrow. The same way
some people have bought latest clothes collection with the money they should
have invested into their future or their children’s future.
When
you see some people on the street, they may be wearing their children’s
education and school fees on their legs as latest shoes and on their neck as
gold. The desire to live for the present at the expense of the future, and the
inability to delay gratification have made many to literally sell their future
in order to satisfy their present longings. Some people may complain they do
not have any landed property of theirs and that their children cannot go to the
university, but when you look at them do not be surprised that they may be
wearing their houses and children’s school fees as wedding rings made of
diamond etc.
Friend,
do not eat the seed you should sow and invest into the things that will secure
your future. Sometimes you may need to endure some pains of the present time
not because you are unwise, but so that you can secure gains in your tomorrow. Refuse
the temptation to allow the pleasures of a moment deny you the glory of your
tomorrow. Do not allow the 5 minutes pleasurable excitement of sin (like
fornication/adultery) and the 1 month pseudo-joy of enjoying embezzled/stolen
money to deny you eternity in Heaven. 5 minutes should not shut the door of
Heaven against you.
I
charge you, look beyond today and book a place for yourself in the future.
Invest in tomorrow and eternity. Do not eat up your future just because you are
hungry today...Esau made this mistake and he did not recover completely. Sow
into your future. Remember that whatever seed that lives your hand now does not
necessarily leave your life...it goes ahead of you into the future and prepares
a place for you here and in eternity to come. Even Jesus went ahead and said,
“I go ahead to prepare a place for you” (John 14:2b). He has done His part...do
