LETTER TO “SEARCHING” BROTHERS (AND
SISTERS)
Dear
Brothers,
When The Sister Says ‘NO’ To You
This
is not the end of the world. And it also does not mean God did not speak to
you. Look at this;
“He came unto his own, and his own
received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become
the sons of God” (John 1:11, 12)
Even
Jesus went to His own, but they did not receive Him. So, it is possible for you
to be led to the person and she will not accept you. Very possible!
And
interestingly, depending on her intimacy and willingness to submit to God, she
may say ‘NO’ and God will not force a ‘YES’ on her. God gives us the room to
make our choices, and only wise people (with eternity in prospect) will chose
what God had chosen for them. There are so many disobedient children (of God).
While
some people willingly give in to God’s will and choice in relationship and
other areas of their lives, some chose the way they wish to live their lives.
In relationship, there are some reasons why a sister will say ‘NO’. I do not
intend to get into details about that now, but here are some reasons;
1. She may not know how to hear God
2. She may have a fixed and already made up mind on who
she wants and perhaps you do not fit into that picture.
3. She may be committed to someone else already
4. She may be interested in another person and waiting
for the person to come and propose
5. She might be under pressures from friends, family,
etc
6. She may be scared for various reasons
7. She may not even have prayed about it but simply
uninterested in you or in a relationship with you.
8. She may be distracted by an “illegitimate” and
“unserious” relationship
This
same way many sisters have “missed” God’s will for their lives. And for the
brother, God is able to raise “another person” such that you won’t even know
this is a “replacement” (please note the quotes here) in the first place. When
she says ‘NO’, someone will receive you and say ‘YES’, and that person becomes
automatically empowered to help you fulfil God’s purpose for your life.
“But as many as received him, to
them gave he power to become the sons of God” (John 1:12a)
And
you will find many brothers thanking God later in life and marriage that it was
this second person and not the first. This is an ultimate demonstration of
God’s faithfulness and perfectness...He never makes mistakes.
And
sometimes you pray and ask God to speak to her, and it seems she is not coming
forth. It may be that she does not know how to hear God, or she is being
disobedient to the leading of God.
Brother,
if you find yourself in this situation where you are so convinced yet the
person says ‘NO’, there is something you can do. Since you were able to hear
God when He first led you, then go back and tell Him the outcome, and He will
tell you what to do. God never makes mistakes.
Jesus
is coming very soon...the rapture will soon take place; how ready are you? God
bless you.
Dr. Bukola Williams
