THE PRAYER KEY TO GREATNESS PART 2

In the first part of this series, we highlighted that until you pray you are not ready to be great in life. Greatness is not an accident, it is the product of many prices and key among them is prayer. We explained that the secret behind the greatness of Elijah was prayers. At a point God reminded him (Elijah) of 7,000 other prophets of God. It means that they used to be 7001 until one of them arose and refused to die a “no man”. He (Elijah) decided he could not pass through his generation without a voice. So, he prayed there would be no rain...the rest is history. We ended by stating that prayer amplifies your voice and secures your place in destiny. Today, we bring you a brief conclusion to that series.
Jesus’ life of greatness didn’t just emerge, He prayed. Notice that in Matthew 5:1, He was dealing with multitudes. “But seeing the multitudes, He went up into a mountain”. Please, look at Matthew 8:1, “when He was come down from the (same) mountain, GREAT multitudes followed him”. Something had changed! In the beginning, there were just multitudes, but Jesus Himself knew that His portion was to live in GREATNESS, so He went up (the mountain-a place of prayer and power), and by the time He came back GREATNESS had attached to Him, and what used to be multitudes became GREAT multitudes. There is no way a man of prayer can remain the same, they live in GREATNESS.
As we conclude on the prayer key to greatness, let us look at this testimony of Jesus; “Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, AND PRAYING, the Heaven was opened” (Luke 3:27). Note that Jesus was not the first to be baptized, other people were baptized before Him, but nothing “remarkable” happened in their lives; they just came and passed. But when it got to the turn of Jesus to be baptized, He did something the others were not recorded to have done, HE PRAYED!!! The Open Heaven that happened immediately came by the reason of PRAYERS. And that was the birth of a great earthly life and ministry that the world has never and will never recover from. He prayed. Every truly great life is a praying mind.
Paul, one great man whose life of grace never ceases to amaze me, with all his spiritual gifts and grace made a big request, he said, “brethren, PRAY FOR US…” Jesus looked at Peter and said, “Peter, thank God for your life and ministry…thank God for all the exploits in greatness you are doing…but in all of these things, the devil desire to have you, but I have PRAYED for you so that your faith won’t fail…” (Luke 22:31, 32, Paraphrased).
Friend, the proven and most reliable way to true greatness is a life of prayer. It makes you great and it preserves your greatness. Perhaps you have a shallow prayer life or a lukewarm attitude to prayer, I announce to you today that prayer is the most assured and unfailing lifeline to true greatness, and the way to go far in life for God is to pray. I pray that your star will not be hid in Jesus’ name.
