THE DIRECTION TO GREATNESS

In Mathematics and Physics, we are told of two (2) scales of measurement; vector and scalar. While the vector quantity has both magnitude and DIRECTION, the same cannot be said of the scalar with just magnitude but no direction. Magnitude refers to greatness, size, extent, enormousness, volume or status of something. Of these two scales, both have magnitude but one has an edge called DIRECTION.
In the same way life presents two categories of people, and these have one thing in common and that is magnitude. They both have high magnitude (heavy, big, great) dreams, visions, ideas and drive to achieve greatness. But for a particular group, everything begins and ends with the high caliber and heavy magnitude dreams; however they have no idea of the direction to take in life. The other category has magnitude and then knows the direction to follow. The difference between the two is DIRECTION. And I tell you the truth; direction is the difference between two people with opposite destinies in life.
Where we are today is a product of the directions we have followed at certain points in our lives. Many people are behind in life not because they do not have visions and dreams, not because they have been cursed not to make progress in life, but because they do not know what to do and which way to take to become the man in their dreams. What distinguishes two people in life is the knowledge of direction. Until you know what to do to become great in life, you simply do not have all it takes…in other word, direction is the major force that attracts you to your destiny.
A high magnitude dream with no direction is nowhere as good as a low magnitude dream with direction. Look around at men who are great today you will find that at some points in their lives they followed a particular direction that went on to be the bedrock for whatever they turned out to become. There are people who missed direction in life and ended up finding out that the future they arrived at was alas empty and by then it was late to go and start all over again.
When a man’s life is without direction, no matter how big his dreams and passions are, they will only remain in the dreamland and possibly die with him. You find such people talking so much about what they what to do but never doing them…they just keep dreaming, and by the time they wake up, the future is come, so they remain dreamers for life. Many die with their potentials because they never had an idea of what to do with them. No wonder the graveyard still remains the richest place on earth, greater and richer than the oil wells in the Far East because therein lies many great destinies that were never fulfilled, books never written, songs never composed, inventions that never saw light, and technologies never developed. They left the world the way they met it not because they never had what it could take but they missed how it takes!
I am sure everyone knows the biblical Joseph with all his dreams. Today, I want to show you something about this same Joseph that you perhaps have never noticed. Joseph had all the dreams and eventually became the man in his dreams. But there was a time in the life of Joseph that something was missing and he became a wanderer in the journey of life. See how the scripture puts it; “And a CERTAIN MAN found him, and, behold, he was WANDERING in the field: and the man asked him, saying, WHAT seekest thou?” And he said, I seek my brethren: tell me, I pray thee, WHERE they feed their flocks. And the man said, they are DEPARTED hence; for I HEARD them say, let us go to Dothan. And Joseph went after his brethren, and FOUND them in Dothan” (Genesis 37:15-17). I have out some revealing words in capital letter for emphasis.
When Joseph left home it was a journey that was to break him forth into destiny. The father who goes for his mentor told him clearly where he would find his brethren. By the experience of his father and mentor, they were in Schechem (verse 13). Joseph followed this instruction of his earthly mentor and went straight to Schechem, but the brethren were not there. And that point in his life, the counsel of a mentor failed and he started wandering through destiny, he didn’t know which direction to take. Here is a man with big dreams who became a wanderer because he had no idea of direction. Friend, destiny doesn’t answer to dreams, it answers to direction!
Continuing, the certain man didn’t ask him WHO sleekest thou, but WHAT seekest thou. This implies that the man knew what Joseph was seeking at that moment wasn’t human beings (WHO) but destiny (WHAT). And thank God thank Joseph was a humble man despite all his great dreams and brilliant coat of many colours. There are people who have not achieved anything in life yet but are proud because they have dreams. But Joseph was approachable. This man had the exact information that Joseph needed to access destiny, and when Joseph for the first time in his life followed an instruction other than his earthly father and mentor, he landed in destiny-he got to Dothan and found his brethren. Friend, the direction you need to get to where yiu have been destined for is a piece of informational package called DIVINE DIRECTION. That CERTAIN MAN was a messenger of God! Check through scriptures, majority of times that CERTAIN MEN like this appear they are angels with divine counsel. The pathway to your destiny is dreams plus not just direction (because human directions can fail you) but divine direction.
It is divine direction that gives birth to destiny. It is the anchor upon which dreams thrive to produce greatness. Not to know what to do is not to lay hold upon destiny. Divine direction is an asset towards destiny. Destiny cannot take place until direction is in place. You simply cannot leave where you are until you know what to do. The absence of direction is the root cause of stagnation. To see clear is to move fast. DIVINE DIRECTION IS THE SPIRITUAL RADAR TO GREATNESS (Bukola Williams).
In 1 Kings 18, a search was initiated for wanted Elijah. So, King Ahab and godly Obadiah set out to look for this missing factor. Ahab took the way that seemed right to lead to where Elijah would be and left the other way for Obadiah, his servant. But when Elijah would appear, he appeared on the way of the godly Obadiah, for “on the paths of the righteous is life”. Ahab followed what seemed the popular way but ended in an empty search, but Obadiah committed his ways o the Lord and found the key to the closed Heavens. It is not important who is following a particular way…it is not essential how others are doing it; just follow the path God has chosen for you (in life, relationship, ministry, career, etc) and soon you will find out that it was the right way to destiny. And your evidence marks the end of any argument concerning your life. I found that path and have never looked backed.
In this week, God will show you the way to go!
