I might sound stupid, but in my opinion I think we should consider rallying round Farouk and by the time you finish reading you will know better. I started thinking about this yesterday and it is growing bigger now. I'm not promoting corruption (those who know know how much I hate corruption to the marrow)...but this man was just an unfortunate victim of an executive setup. The problem of corruption in Nigeria is predominantly an executive phenomenon..not even the so called "formers" (BOT) are vindicated. The handwriting is clearly legible for all who care to look and see to read.
My tribe's people usually say, "the witch cried yesterday, the child died today, who doesn't know that it was the witch that cried yesterday that killed the child"? OBJ cried, yes! But how sure are we that what's happening isn't the Biblical allegorical "voice of Esau but hand of Jacob"? This is an altogether calculated attempt to rubbish the subsidy probe report. Besides, is Farouk the only thief? Is he because he worked against OBJ's third term, scuffled Patricia Etteh's seat, and wasn't at ease with Dimeji?
Let's be realistic, those men put a lot at stake in the discharge of their duties..like their lives been threatened etc. It's a pity that some people are celebrating Farouk's fall which thus means that the guy isn't perfectly bad afterall. And lest I be misquoted, I'm not saying Farouk isn't a crook, but I maintain that he's not the only one and he's not the worst. Why is Otedola still walking freely despite his complicity in all this saga. The executive also has a case to answer...and then the godfather should come out and tell us how he knows those who are robbers in the house.
Now that we've caught Farouk, let us rally round him to help us catch other thieves (who are worse than him), afterall they say "use a thief to catch a thief". Yes, indeed, Farouk has let us down...but he shouldn't fall alone. While I support that he be punished so as to serve as a deterrent to others (eventhough we know Nigerian politicians and leaders don't learn), I still respect him than the multitudes of well known thieves who are walking freely on the streets "untouchable" (like the thieves in power project scam, subsidy fraud, etc). May the "fraudulent ghost" and the "victimized shadow" of Farouk haunt all who have stolen Nigeria's money. May they know no peace while they live.
