ARE YOU LIVING BY FAITH OR BY RISK?

And many times what we pray are actually "prayers of risk" and not "prayers of faith". For example, "God, as I step into this business, please take charge". Looks fine a prayer, but typical of "risk prayer". The question is, what if you are entering that business in disobedience? How about if that's not what He wants you to do? Perhaps you have seen another person excel in that venture so you too decided to take a (?) "step of faith". The truth is that's actually a step of fate not faith! But when you say, "Father, do I take this step?"...and then He says "YES", you are eternally secured! And that is when you see people who have heard God before moving, their actions seem to be oftentimes "foolish"...but the truth is that "the foolishness of God is wiser than the wisdom of God" (1 Corinthians 1:25).
I admire King David; he had all the capacity to pursue after the enemies who had raided his camp, but he did one thing; he simply asked God if he should take that step. "And David enquired at the Lord, saying, shall I pursue after the troop? Shall I overtake them? And God answered him, pursue: for you shall surely overtake them, and without fail recover all. So David went" (1 Samuel 30:8, 9a).
And "David recovered all...and there was nothing lacking to them...for David recovered ALL" (verses 18, 19).
Look at this; did David have the physical capacity to pursue? Yes! He was a man of war...had the money, connection, influence, experience, etc needed to undertake that project. He could as well have zealously taken the step to start pursuing the enemies and then prayed to God, "please God, you know I have to do this...you have done it for me before...come and do it for me again". With this prayer he could have set out...but that would be calamitous. The greatest error a man can make is to depend on experience and zeal and step out without seeking God. David didn't take the first step and then asked God to order his steps. That would be risk. He asked God if he should take the first step. Now, this is faith.
Many people experience disappointments on the way they assumed would have led to breakthrough...some get losses in businesses that had looked apparently and potentially promising...some receive heartbreaks in relationships they could swear using their senses that would have been sweet...etc. And many feel they prayed, acted and took steps in faith, why then shouldn't it work. But the truth is what we just examined.
It is error of progression for you to take the first step and afterwards ask God to order your steps...The right thing is to ask Him (God) if you should take the step in the first place. This is wisdom! Risk is when you take the first step and later ask God to order your steps. Faith is when God is the one asking you to take the first step. Faith is a more assured way to greatness. The world seek to be great through risk...we chose to be TRULY great through faith. In the end, everything that is born of risk will disappear, but the things born of faith will abide forever. God is a faith God and "whatsoever God does, it shall be forever" (Ecclesiastes 3:14).
Are you walking by faith or by risk? Risk lands in fate. Faith leads to greatness.
