THE WAYS OF HUMILITY (1)

TEXTS: Matthew 8:4; 1 Peter 5:6
In continuation of the series that seeks to uncover the miseries of pride and unveil the mysteries of humility, we shall go the ways of humility so as to understand the fundamentals of true, genuine and kingdom humility.
1. Humility is not a spiritual gift meant for some specific people.
It is the nature of God that flows through a man who has given himself completely over to God and His will. It is a necessity for a life that is pleasing to God.
2. Humility is not environmental
There are people who act humility, for example they demonstrate humility in the circuit of brethren or in the church, but at home they are no longer brethren. This “environmental humility” is an art and not of the heart and it is hypocrisy.
3. Humility does not discriminate nor is it a respecter of persons
Some people cannot admit or apologize even when they are wrong once the affected person is their subordinate or younger than they are. There are those (who say they are believers) but class themselves too high to relate with other believers because the latter do not measure up to them in carnal circuits.
4. If you are not humble, you are not Christ-like
You may wish to dress like the twelve disciples of Jesus and live inside the church, but if you do not have a humble heart, you are not like Jesus. Service without humility has no impact (Acts 20:19).
5. Humility is measured by teachability
You cannot have all the anointing in the world. You may know the scriptures so well, but the Bible says (for now), “For we know in part” (1 Corinthians 13:9). The point where you listen to counsel and bend down for others to teach, rebuke and correct you is humility. And to be able to accept teaching, rebuke and correction is true greatness.
Jesus is the greatest man to walk the face of the earth. In His greatness, humility was a constant virtue with Him: “And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient” (Philippians 2:8).
Humility is a destiny key and a lifeline for eternity. The heart of humility is the seat of greatness. If you have found the way of humility, you have found the path to greatness in life and Heaven at last.
