“And money is a defence” (Ecclesiastes
7:12)
Money is good...if it were not good; God won't be
giving it to His children. Anything that comes from God is a good and a perfect
gift, including money.
I was meditating and was wondering why someone like
Aliko Dangote (Africa's richest man) doesn't get robbed by armed robbers...and
lo I got the answer from the scriptures; the Bible says "Money is a
defence" (Eccl. 7:12). When you have money, there is a defence around
you. The thing is that, if it works like that for an unbeliever who perhaps
does not know anything or much about tithing, how much more me and you who are
heirs.
One way to activate the defence profile of money is
to use your money for godly and goodly things. Be sure you don't rob God by
paying your tithes. God says "And I will rebuke the devourer for your
sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground" (Malachi
3:11).
You wonder why some people are suffering mandatory
financial outflows and helplessness? The defence property of money in their
lives is not active because they do not pay tithe. Tithe puts a supernatural
wall of defence against the remaining 90% with you. Tithing shields your life
from illnesses such that we doctors do not make unnecessary money from you by
frequent and avoidable hospital visits. And not paying tithes is even able to
cost a man his eternity.
Another way to make your money become a defence for
you and offer you immunity from disaster and inexplicable financial losses is
to be a giver. Give to charity, give to the poor, give to the widow and orphan,
and give to the beggar. Hear what God said: "He that hath pity upon the
poor lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will He (God) pay him
again" (Proverbs 19:17). And Jesus added: "...and give to the
poor, and thou shall have treasure in Heaven" (Matthew 19:21b).
Apostle Paul also charged: "Charge them that are rich in this world,
that they do good, that they be rich in good works...laying up in store for
themselves a good foundation" (1 Timothy 6:17-21).
The rich man was not called a fool in the beginning,
but after he got plenty stuff and riches, he thought the defence been talked
about was a physical barrier, so he decided to build a physical wall of
defence. No wonder God called him a fool. Only if he knew that the way to
activate the defence profile of money and wealth is to give.
Abraham was blessed and was a blessing. Lot was
blessed, but I didn't see where they said Lot was a blessing. So, when the
enemies came, they never dared Abraham's territory...they packed Lot and co.
When your life is a blessing, you live in supernatural defence. No devil can
touch you anyhow. Even the devil admitted that God built a hedge round Job. But
what had Job done to enjoy that level of defence? Hear a part of his testimony:
"I was eyes to the blind, feet to the lame, a father to the
poor..." (Job 29:15, 16a). Job was rich and had money...until God permitted
satan, there was defence round about Job. Money was part of his defence because
he was a giver. Money can become defensive, but it becomes activated when your
money serves the purpose of God.
Finally, why would God give you money in the first
place? It was the same reason Jesus gave Peter money: "(From the fish
mouth)...thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and five them for ME and
you" (Matthew 17:27). Note that Jesus said the money He was giving
Peter was meant first for Him (Jesus) and then Peter second. Unfortunately,
today we have reversed this and put ourselves first and God last. God wants us
to have money and be rich...but put God and Heaven first.
