TEXT: John 21:15-17
Yesterday we started looking at
some crucial lifelines for living a truly spiritual life that would count
positively in eternity. We examined the depths of true love for God and ended
up praying to God to overturn whatever it may be that has taken His place in
our hearts.
Today we conclude on the same
teaching. If you missed yesterday’s devotional I encourage you to read it up,
or follow this link:
(1) When you love God, you will
endure trials and temptations for the sake of Christ.
Endurance is a test of love because
“love
endures all things” (1 Corinthians 13:7). When you give up on God or go
on to compromise in the face of trials, it confirms your love for God (if ever
present) was shallow. You don’t give up on a lady you love easily. Why is it
that you give up on the God you claim to love?
(2) If you love God you will pursue
His purpose and agenda for this generation (Acts 13:36)
The heartbeat of God for this
generation is to soul winning and revival. God wants to touch as many lives
before the rapture takes place. He is pouring forth repentance and revival and
He is seeking genuine men who will take the lead in this last apostolic
movement of the faith. Those who love God do His will – the pursuit of His
purpose for their lives which by extension culminates in the impartation of
souls for salvation. If you are doing something that is opposite to what God
wants you to do, your love for Him is either low or zero.
(3) It is to look forward to His
coming (2 Timothy 4:8; Jude 1:21).
If you see people who don’t bother
about whether Jesus is coming or not, who are cumbered ONLY about making it
here without thought to where they will be in eternity, they have either low or
no love for God. If you love God, you will love His coming.
Beloved, may God’s love in our hearts
truly increase and may we catch a fresh fire to do nothing but His biddings and
leadings in Jesus’ name. Amen. God bless you.
