TEXT: John 2:1-10
One of the many institutions that the enemy has gained access
into is the home. Many homes today are broken and some shattered. Some people
can only boast of the roof top over their heads but they have no peace in their
hearts. The place where they live is merely a house and not a home. With this, we
can say that there are many houses but few homes.
Marriages are breaking, children are troubled; crises
everywhere. Some people have even concluded that it is better to remain single
because they have assumed from experience that there can never be a happy
marriage…what a lie from the pit of hell!
Firstly, I want to eliminate any negative mentality about
marriage from somebody reading SPIRIT SWORD DEVOTIONAL today. Hear me; the fact
that those you look up to as parents, guardians or mentors failed in their
marriage; this does not implicate you for the same situation. The death that
killed James must not necessarily kill Peter! (Acts 12). That Pastor A’s
marriage failed does not mean brother B’s marriage should fail.
I want you to reject any lie that has changed your mind-set
about marriage. Even if your parents didn’t succeed in their own, God has
brought you in not to watch you fail. Your case must not be a replica of their
fate. You don’t have the same destiny.
It is possible your marriage is almost breaking and you think
there is no way to go. It is possible you know someone who needs help in
his/her marriage/relationship. The first message for you or them is this: GOD
IS NOT THE AUTHOR OF PAINS IN YOUR HOME. The devil is the one taking advantage
of something somewhere in your home. He (the devil) takes charge when he is
given the chance. You must be determined to freeze the enemy out of your life.
How do you do that? Just for today, here are three (3) ways to do that;
(1) Let God reign
If Jesus is not at the centre of your life, the centre cannot
hold. You must of necessity acknowledge your helplessness and selfishness and
ask God to come into your life as Lord and Saviour and help you.
(2) Let prayer rule
When God is in, go on and let prayer rule. Prayer generates
an atmosphere of grace that the devil and his agents cannot survive.
(3) Humility and
forgiveness are keys (Ephesians 5:25)
Marriage is a union of two forgivers. If you are proud, you
must bend low and be broken. These words: “I am sorry” and “I forgive you” are
marriage-saving keys. Which do you need to apply?
As you do the right things, I prophesy grace for a peaceful
home upon you in Jesus’ name. Amen.
