Dr. Bukola Williams
I
know men who perhaps have never handled a microphone before yet their stories
have crossed borders and broken boundaries...they have never authored any book
before, yet their names and stories are everywhere being read, reviewed, and
rehearsed by those who desire to walk same paths. Many of them are not the best
of speakers, some would barely be able to address an audience either for want
of words or shyness in front, but they are known all round. This made me
realize that voice and success are two separate entities. When your voice is
empty of success, it can be likened to noise which by definition is 'sound of
irregular frequency'. People are not interested in noise. But when success is
in the air, it has both a voice and it makes sense.
People
embrace success the way they do successful people. The voice of success has an amplitude
above the highest frequency microphone. There has never been a time that a
microphone in use in Ibadan would echo in Lagos at the same time (minus the use
of television/radio transmissions). But a successful man in Ibadan is known
even beyond Lagos. It thus means that words are strong but limited...but
success is powerful and unlimited. This mechanism that makes success of a
higher operational magnitude is what I call ‘SUCCESS-PHONE’, short for ‘SUCCESS-MICROPHONE’
Your
voice speaks pages, but your success speaks volumes. And gradually where your
voice was hitherto not received, your success speaks and people listen...and
then suddenly they would realize they had been listening to you all the while.
I have seen several adverts and promos...but Success is the best advertisement
I have ever known. Celebrities are men of few words and many successes.
Moses
was a stammerer. He was a man of few words but great successes. When Joshua was
thinking how he (Joshua) would win the hearts of the people after Moses' death,
God kept telling him about "Good Success" (Joshua 1:8). Success is
the mute button on life's remote control that silences the enemy and opposition
than any weapon of war.
I'm
sure you remember Naaman, the leper. By standard and ideally, Naaman should be
an outcast living outside the city because he was a leper. But, he lived a life
of affluence and influence, and it is written specifically that he “was a great
man with his master, and honourable, because by him the LORD had given
deliverance unto Syria: he was also a mighty man in valour, but he was a leper”
(2Kings 5:1). Though they might not have liked him or considered his voice, but
he was successful, and and they had no choice. He was a leper, but he was a successful
leper! It is not abnormal to be an orphan, but it is better to be a successful
orphan.
I
read a story about a man who said he owed his former fiancĂ©e’s parents a lot
for who he later became in his life. He had gone to the girl’s house as a young
man but her parents refused to listen to his words because he probably was a
"poor" young man, unsuited for their daughter. But rather than go
back crying, he left and resolved to work harder "until they get to hear
of him". He became successful. And I believe the words those parents
didn't want to hear they later heard from his success story.
Another
word that can be used in place of 'glory' is 'Success Story' and not just 'story'.
Everyone has got a ‘story’ to tell, but only few have got 'Success Stories' to
tell. It is not your ‘story’ that wins the hearts of people; it is the Success
in your Story-your ‘Success Story’. People may not be interested in your ‘story’
but they can't ignore your ‘glory’, which is your ‘Success Story’.
And
finally, it is important to differentiate between ‘Success’ and ‘Good Success’.
The world is after success but we are after "Good Success”. That was the
promise to Joshua; ‘You shall have "Good Success"’, not just success
(Joshua 1:8). Who is Good? God is Good! So, "Good Success" by
interpretation is also "God Success"...it is success that comes from
God. Any success you earn by compromise, corruption, criminal activities,
forgery, prostitution, every wrong means is not from God and so it is not Good.
Such will take you to hell fire if you don't repent and make necessary restitutions.
Dear lady, you are riding a car bought for you by a boyfriend in order to “compensate”
you for wronging you…and now you are thinking you are successful because of the
car, but I tell you the truth, what you have is a reward of iniquity and both
of you are Hell-bound if you don’t repent and return that car. The list is
endless.
God
is able to and will give you success. Go and succeed with God.
