<<< UNVEILING THE CONSEQUENCES OF A PROUD HEART>>>
TEXTS: Proverbs
16:5; 21:4; Malachi 4:1
We began a series on the subject of
pride with the intent of x-raying some subtle manifestations of pride, its
effects and to unravel the ways of humility. Today, we consider the effects of pride
on a man’s life – destiny and eternity.
Pride is spreading like a virus and
hurting its victims and crashing several destinies while altering the eternal
of many. It is a manifestation of the end-time and one of the enemies traps to
capture men (2 Timothy 3:1-2).
Effects of
pride>>>
1. Pride enforces the spiritual gravitational force that makes it
difficult to rise (in life) above falling. And even when there is a rising, it
does not last.
This is the reason a proud person
can neither rise in life nor in rapture. Pride empowers the forces of
stagnation and frustration.
There is a spirit of pride and it
is both an arrogant and destructive agent. Wherever he operates, he gives the
devil access and license to leak grace in that life. No matter how highly
profiled or anointed a man is, once pride is present, grace diminishes.
Arrogance is the devil’s offspring
and the fastest way to the pit (Job 40:11; Isaiah 2:12; Jeremiah 20:32).
2. Pride attracts curses and condemnation
“Lest being lifted up with pride he
fall into the condemnation of the devil” (1 Timothy 3:3b).
Some curses are not generational in
origin but emanated because of a proud life (Psalm 119:21)
3. The way of a proud man is hard (Proverbs 13:15)
The truth is that the distance
between some people and their finding a marital partner is a tiny barrier
caused by pride. Remove pride, destiny moves! Choose pride, destiny halts!!
4. Pride causes shame
“When pride cometh, then cometh shame” (Proverbs 11:2).
5. Pride is sin, and “the wages of
sin is death” (Romans 6:23a).
It is on this wise that pride leads
to destruction; it destroys destiny like a virus and destroys in eternity
(Proverbs 16:18).
Pride is anti-grace. It prevents
the flow of grace and suffocates the atmosphere of grace. God hates pride: “These
six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud
look” (Proverbs 6:16-17a). It is humility that attracts grace and then
grace brings connects glory. If you want to experience God’s glory in your
life, I recommend the path of humility.
Pray with me, “Lord, dissolve every proud segment of my heart and break me completely
to be more like you in Jesus’ name”.
